Revolution

Like most of the world I stayed up and watched the election. This was a revolution in the process. I was very excited by the change. I went out into the city to find a group to celebrate this historic moment. I didn’t find a wild and crazy party around my area so I was bummed a little. I had no where to go to celebrate this revolution.

I see this Obama victory not as black man winning an election but an utter rejection of all that has represented the US in the past administration and beyond. Not to take anything away from Obama he did run a brilliant campaign. The ability to speak eloquently with intelligence and nuance is an indication of his true intelligence. His brilliant use of the internet to circumvent the obstacles placed in front of anti-establisment challengers speaks volumes of his true intelligence.  He connected with the publics frustration and anger and was able to allow the public to see him as one of them. His election is a warning to the old boy network and the corruption evidenced by the debacle of Wall Street. The American public is angry at being disenfranchised and their voices not heard. They saw their country hijacked by special interests, their wealth stolen and their rights trampled on. The Republican party deserved the trouncing it received they were arrogant and divisive. Most of all they looked corrupt and petty. They behaved as if this country belonged to them and to their constituents and none other. The people of this great country spoke. enough is enough!

For my candidate I would have selected Ron Paul, his views and expertise on the economic front is unparalleled. His vision of government is for me the proper vision. I don’t believe in large government taking over all aspects of our lives. It is a failed system. If the Republicans had the intelligence they would have allowed Ron Paul the oppurtunity which he richly deserved.

We all foresee the future being very challenging. The good old boy network may have been defeated temporarily, but they are not out. They have the money and power. It remains to be seen if they can be effectively crushed and brought to heel. This was a revolution. Like all revolutions it remains to be seen who really emerges as the winner and what changes will be made. Ultimately, if our economic model isn’t properly restructured and recreated along correct economic priniciples, this revolution will be bust. I’m sure we all can agree, this also demonstrates the power of the internet, a realm which should never be controlled. What I am looking forward too, just for the emotional pleasure, is to see the garbage flushed out of Washington.
